Chinese Wedding-Activechinese

Post by lynn922 »

My foreign friend was invited to a Chinese wedding. I taught her some Chinese good wishes in the wedding. I think these wishes are useful for the foreigners in China.
恭喜!(gong1 xi3) Congratulations!
新婚快乐!(xin1 hun1 kuai4 le4) Happy new life together!
百年好合!(bai3 nian2 hao3 he2) Remain a devoted couple to the end of their lives!
早生贵子!(zao3 sheng1 gui4 zi3) May you have a blessed baby soon!
A typical Chinese wedding usually takes place in a big banquet hall at a hotel with many round tables. Several friends and relatives get together and eat and drink. One custom is the bride and groom will give all the guests candies or chocolates. Another custom is the bride and groom walk around to all the tables and toast. They are pretty insistent so make sure you’re prepared to get a little drunk.
By the way, there are some interesting culture shockers on this website www.activechinese.com.

That's right. Most Chinese weddings are like that.
