"ke-kien" - which part of the chicken?

Post by Mark Yong »

Does anyone know which part of the chicken the ke-kien is? Also, what is the Hanzi for the kien?

I was told that it is the part of the chicken where the feed is stored.

BTW, it is not the chicken's liver - that's ke-kua 雞肝.

Hi Mark

That (kue1-kian7 in my variant) is chicken gizzard. I would love to know the Hanji also.

Hakka expert gave a talk about the benzi last year in Singapore

But not everyone will agree about his idea

That hanzi is in books like 齐民要数。The 反切 is not a match。
The thing is are there anyone in China say ke kian since the ciangciu sound is only kin.You cannot get ke+kian?
Modern teochew just add g become king
Above hakka author who said 肾 is the benzi actually appeared in 台语正字 by 张清波

Just buy a basis book 广韵,see 下平声卷第二 先。。。。。。You can see it is a pingsheng which isn't a match .
