Dear PPK

I remember that you have mentioned in one of the topics that you found the Cantonese expression for king1 gai2 (to chat) in an ancient book, probably 尚書。Since I forgot to take down the note and thus now, would like to ask you again for the characters of the expression.

I myself always think that the characters are 铴偈,but not proved by any dictionaries. so it is very mucb appreciated if you can help me out.

Hi, Terence.

I heard that the "gai" in king gai is the character that you put down and is connected to Buddhism. So is the character pure Chinese or from Sanskirt?

One of the meanings of 偈 is about the poems of Buddism, but i am not sure it's from Sanskrit or not. Maybe somebody here can answer you.

probably from sunskrit, originally 'gatha' or something, meaning a poem.
