Characters of the Western Xixia Kingdom

Post by Andrew »

Hi Everyone! I just want to ask you if this site's Chin. Char. Dict. Contains all the Xixia kingdom Characters? I guess I've read some history about this kingdom in encyclopedis. I was just amazed to see the beauty of Xixia Characters. Where can I find those characters, their meanings and their pronounciations? Do they haveseparate radicals different from Chin. Chars.?

Any help from you would be greatly appreciated.

I have not seen the characters on this site. They are not Chinese characters, so I doubt they will be included.
I have some in-depth information on this subject. You can check the dictionary: 文海研究, very useful.
They contain on average many more strokes than Chinese characters, are structured similarly but yet is a completely different system than Chinese. They do not share any radicals with Chinese but some are similar in meaning.

The publisher of the following book says that 文海研究 has some mistakes, so the following dictionary might be even more useful (although he includes the English translation, it seems he can't spell English).

夏汉字典
李范文编著
北京:中国社会科学出版社。1997年7月
ISBN 7-5004-2113-3

It includes 6000 characters with definitions in Tangut, corresponding Chinese characters if any, and one-word English translations. Looks like the best resource I've seen so far.
